One of the best things about going to college in Florida was making friends with people from all over the country. My freshman year roommate, Kelly, who quickly became a friend for life, traveled to Florida for a new adventure just like me. However, she came all the way from Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes, as she frequently reminds me. Aside from Kelly, I made a solid group of friends from New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Illinois, Connecticut, Florida, New Hampshire, and more.
Although it was tough separating and going back to our respective states and even new cities after graduation, now it’s great to make a vacation out of visiting college friends. Until this past weekend, I had not seen Kelly since our ski trip over a year ago, and I’d never been to Minnesota. So, it was an understatement to say that I was excited, as Kristen, my other bestie from Delaware, and I boarded our plane in Trenton at 5:30 a.m.
Our reunion trip was only three days long and it down poured for two. Despite this minor inconvenience, we made the most out of our vacation. Kelly created a fantastic itinerary for our stay, and we nearly completed it all, with even more random adventures along the way. Kelly knows I love craft beer and waterfalls, so she made those activities happen. She couldn’t let us leave without confidence that we loved Minnesota! And, she did a dang good job.
Here are the breweries, brunches, and activities we enjoyed while visiting my long lost bestie in Minneapolis. I highly encourage you to check them out!
Breweries
Inbound Brew Co
We got some great IPAs and played Cards Against Humanity! Unfortunately, they ran out of nails so we couldn’t play Stump.
Number 12 Cider
Although I don’t love ciders, I sampled a flight, and they weren’t bad. I loved the aesthetic of this place. They had a very nice setup.
Fulton Beer
This brewery had the largest crowd and the most energetic vibe. We enjoyed some beers in a comfy booth listening to a hype DJ.
Venn Brewing
Loved the IPAs here the most! We sat outside admiring pups and playing Guess Who. Don’t you love the tall glasses?
Brunch
Muddy Waters
Not only was this a quaint restaurant, but it was one that played Spongebob and The Office at brunch. I enjoyed a delicious waffle and a giant mimosa.
Union Rooftop
Bottomless mimosas, Nutella french toast, and a poppin’ DJ all on a rooftop restaurant! What’s not to love? We enjoyed bottomless mimosas so much we stayed 2 hours and left with smiles.
Activities
Guthrie Theatre
We wandered around the theatre to get gorgeous views from the Amber Box & Endless Bridge.
Stone Arch Bridge
Get a gorgeous view of the city and the river walking across this bridge and also save some money on parking!
Sculpture Garden
Get artsy fartsy exploring the interesting sculptures in this lovely park.
Minnehaha Falls
After a short climb down some stairs, we were able to get an amazing view of this beautiful waterfall. It was really gushing because of all the rain so we got a bit wet.
Gay 90s
And lastly, if you’re out for a night of drinking on the town, definitely stop by Gay 90s to ride this giant mechanical penis!
